Mischievous elements in Taraba want Ag Gov Umar stopped – Delegate

By Emeka Nze

A delegate at the ongoing National Conference from Taraba state nominated on the platform of former Senators’ Forum, Senator Abdullahi Bala Adamu, has called on the people of the state to rally round the Acting Governor of the state, Alhaji Garba Umar, to ensure that citizens of the state can co-exist in an atmosphere of peace devoid of suspicion.
Adamu, who was speaking in a chat with Blueprint yesterday at the conference, blamed those who have the ambition to take over the reins of power in the state come 2015 to be responsible for all mischief and propaganda in the state.
He said what is important was to deploy the state’s resources to make life better for the people of the state.

The delegate who described the allegation against the Acting Governor of instigating citizens to violence as “laughable” noted that nobody in power enjoys wanton destruction of lives and property during his tenure.
He explained that government is founded on three cardinal principles, namely, the protection of lives and property, safeguarding the dignity of the citizens  and welfare adding that every leader wants the improvements of lives of its people and Taraba government will not be an exception.

According to the Senator Bala Adamu, those behind the mischief in the state were the same people who tried to hide the truth from the people of Taraba by giving the erroneous impression that the ailing governor, Danbaba Suntai, was fit to govern the state.

He accused those who plotted to stampede the ailing governor to resume his duties as governor of the state while he is yet to fully recover of playing on the conscience of Tarabans and enjoined the citizens of the state in particular and Nigerians in general to continue to pray for the governor.
He explained that it is an attempt by the enemies of the state to prevent the Acting Governor from taking the full reins of power in the state reminding them that power comes from God.
