Mixed reactions trail Danjuma’s call for self-defence-Voxpop

T.Y Danjuma is right
It’s high time we started telling ourselves the truth in this country. The statement from T.Y Danjuma is a good one because somebody needs to tell the government the truth. Since the government of Buhari came into power, there has been a lot of bad things happening in this country, especially in the north, and he should not expect us to vote him for a second tenure in office. We should arm and protect ourselves if the government can no longer live up to its responsibility of taking care of the citizens. The attacks on the the north is becoming too much and the truth is that the government has not really cared too and it’s only fair that every citizen should own a gun for protection.

Government is messing with Nigerians
Taraba State is really under attack by the Boko Haram sect. The kidnappings in this country also point to the fact that we are defenceless, apart from the statement that is credited to TY Danjuma. Whether we like it or not, there is no way the government can protect everyone. It is either you find a means to protect yourself or you wait for Boko Haram to come and kill you. I support the statement of Danjuma for us to protect ourselves, but the problem is if we can be allowed access to guns and ammunitions. In other countries, citizens get permit to own guns for protection, but we are so defenceless here in Nigeria.

It’s all politics
Forget the statement by Danjuma, he is just making a political statement to still be relevant in government circles. There is no way it can be possible to protect ourselves from killers in Nigeria because we are as exposed to attacks as we can ever be. We just have to pray to God for protection because only He can be able to do anything for us. All the politicians in this country are only interested in making life miserable for us, so there is no way we can do anything than to put our trust in God.

Danjuma should be arrested
The statement from TY Danjuma is like a criminal revealing the secret of his gang. We all know his history. He was an active participant in the 1966 counter coup that installed Yakubu Gowon as the Head of State in Nigeria. He was also instrumental in the death of Aguiyi Ironsi, so he knows what he is talking about if he says that government is killing Nigerians. The only irony is that he doesn’t have the moral right for the statement. Had it been that it was from another Nigerian, then it would be worth considering. In fact, I suggest that Danjuma should be arrested because this statement is going to make a bad image of the government of Nigeria. There is no right government that would order an ethnic cleansing of a group it is supposed to protect, so Danjuma should think of another gimmick to bring the government into disrepute.

A game of selfish interest
I am not surprised that TY Danjuma made that statement. He has been in the political circle and in the military, so he knows everything worth knowing about the working of government. However, I suspect that he has a guilty conscience and that he’s speaking up now because his state is involved. If not that Taraba State was attacked by Boko Haram, I wonder if he would have spoken up. Politics is a game of selfish interests,so maybe he is not getting what he is expecting from the Buhari government to warrant such an attack on the military.

It is a state of anarchy
The request for Nigerians to arm themselves is very dangerous. It is calling for suicide because Nigerians like overdoing things. Before you know it, things will get out of hand because getting access to guns would lead to high crime rate. Moreover, the military is there to protect us and Nigeria will become a state of anarchy if we attempt to state protecting ourselves. There is no way the Boko Haram will kill everyone in Nigeria. I suggest that the military should intensify efforts to protect Nigerians and that government should prove Danjuma wrong by making Nigeria safe for us to live in.
