Miyetti Allah leader debunks media reports on Fulani

Benue state coordinator of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Alhaji Garus Gololo, has described the media reports classifying the socio-cultural organisation as a terrorist, as unfortunate.

Gololo stated this Sunday in Abuja while reacting to ThisDay publication by one Mr. Reno entitled: “In Nigeria, Deadly Terrorists Deserve Government’s Respect”, in which it labelled MACABAN as a terrorist organisation.

He said the correspondent reported the news and wrongly credited him with the story, saying he never discussed anything with Reno before he went ahead to publish the article on Fulani.

“Reno called me on phone and asked me about the money, which he alleged the federal government gave to Miyetti Allah which I refused to respond to but to my surprise, he went and reported what I did not say. In addition he said in January 6, 2018, I wrote that Fulani re-attacked Tiv community land in Benue state in respect of self defence, which also is not true,” he said.

The Miyetti Allah leader said Nigerians should beware of fake journalists, adding that some of them are out to tarnish people’s image.
He said Miyetti Allah is a registered socio-cultural organisation that is doing its activities within the of the Nigerian constitution, adding that nobody should label them as terrorists.
