Monarch charges community leaders on peace

The Ona of Abaji, His Royal Majesty (HRM), Alhaji (Dr), Yunusa Adamu, has appealed to ethnic community leaders in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to live in peace with one another irrespective of their religions and ethnic affiliations for national development.
He made the appeal yesterday while receiving Tiv traditional rulers from across the six area councils known as Ter Mba Tiv.
The monarch, also the Chairman of the FCT Council of Chiefs, and who was represented by the Madakin Abaji, Alhaji Ibrahim Ahmeed Aguye, advised Tiv traditional rulers in the Territory to live in peace with other people around them. He urged them to do everything possible within their domains to ensure that “peace reigns.”
He noted that the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) “accommodates every person or visitor without any discrimination.”
The Ona said he would remain amenable to meaningful contribution with a view to hastening the pace of development among other ethnic groups in the FCT.
He, however, decried the “spate of violence and insecurity in the country” and called for prayers “from all and sundry for God to bring peace in our nation and touch the hearts of evil doers.”
He promised to look into the request presented to him by the Tiv community leaders accordingly.
Earlier, in their presentation, the Tiv leaders requested the Ona to forward their names to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, to be included on his payroll as part of up-grading.
Speaking, on their behalf, the Ter Kuje, Chief Geoffrey Adzenda Begha, thanked the entire Abaji Chiefdom for receiving them and said their visit was to familiarise with the Ona, “and to register our support for your achievements.”
He gave the assurance that their subjects would “do all within their powers to ensure that peace reigns in the FCT and the country at large.”
