Monarch tasks police to unravel killer of late Sugar

Oba Adekunle gave the charge in Ibadan during a chat with journalists on the killing of late House of Representatives member representing Lagelu/Akinyele Federal constituency by yet to be identified gunmen at Lalupon on March 9

According to Oba Adekunle, the Nigeria Police and its Oyo state Command are presently doing well on the investigations over the killing of the House of Representatives member.

The royal father stressed that, despite this, there is still the need for the police to further intensify their efforts to find the real killers of the late lawmaker

Speaking on the arrest and continued detention of the Chief Whip of the Oyo state House of Assembly, Honourable Olafisoye Akinmoyede, in connection with the killing of late Honourable Olatoye. the traditional ruler said. Honourable Akinmoyede has being a man of peace, who had contributed immensely to the development of Lalupon town and the entire local government area through his philanthropic activities.

Oba Adekunle maintained that although both Honourable Akinmoyede and the late Honourable Olatoye belonged to different political parties, both of them are “brothers and best of friends”.

He stressed that they had jointly and individually committed enormous resources to the socio-economic wellbeing of the people of the area”, saying, “I have always known Sugar and Akinmoyede as not only brothers but also best of friends”.

” It is therefore inconceivable that one would want to terminate the other’s life, for whatever reason. As the traditional ruler of Lalupon town where Akinmoyede hails from, I know him to be a man of peace; he does not encourage thuggery and violence. I’m sure he didn’t know anything about the incident,” he said.

The traditional ruler saud the fact that the Oyo state House of Assembly Chief whip voluntarily responded to the police invitation by walking to the SCIB, Iyaganku in Ibadan as well as the testimonies of most of his subjects on Akinmoyede’s characters were enough evidence that he was innocent.

Oba Adekunle while ommiserating with the family of Olatoye over the untimely death of Honourable Temitope Olatoye, described his killing as unfortunate and disheartening.

He stressed that the late Honourable Temitope Olatoye would be solely missed for being a good ambassador of his constituents and for his unprecedented philanthropy which had endeared him to his people.
