Monkeypox: Panic in Osun as alleged ‘unknown’ health workers invade schools

Palpable tensions have pervaded residence of Osun state over the alleged invasion of public schools by unknown health workers who are allegedly administering immunisation vaccines on pupils.
Rumours have filtered the air on Tuesday that some school pupils have died due to immunisation vaccines given to them by unknown health workers in some parts of the state.
The news of the purported death got to the notice of the state government who immediately denied authorising any immunisation in public schools.
A statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Adelani Baderinwa, denied involvement of the government in the alleged immunisation.
“There is no outbreak of any disease that could warrant immunisation in any part of the state and thus there is no reason to call for immunisation.
“Authorities in all schools, institutions and agencies are hereby put on notice that nobody should be allowed to carry out any illegal immunisation in their environments.
“Indeed, prompt report of such should be made to appropriate law enforcement authorities.
The statement however urged parents and guardians not to panic and rush to take any rash decision about the rumour, saying “there is no truth in it and  should be totally discountenance.
