More Lawmakers join PDP in Imo

Three more lawmakers of the Imo State House of Assembly, Tuesday defected to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

With the latest development, the ruling in the state now has 19 out of the entire 27 lawmakers.

Three members of the Action Alliance(AA) had last week, defected to the PDP.

Those that defected following letters read on their behalf by the speaker of the House are: Honourables Mike Onyemaechi Njoku representing Ihitte Uboma State constituency (APGA); Amarachi Chyna Iwuanyanwu representing Nwangele State constituency (APGA); and Chidiebere Oginikpa representing Okigwe State constituency (APGA).

The trio, all first timers in the Assembly, blamed the crisis in their former party for their defection, saying it has led to power tussle among the leaders which has destroyed the party.

They promised to join hands with the PDP-led government in the state in its efforts to rebuild Imo.
