Mother of 3 bags one-year jail for stealing N15,000 phone

An Osun State Magistrate Court sitting in Osogbo, the State capital yesterday sentenced a 35-year-old mother of three, Nafisat Raji, to 12 months imprisonment for stealing Techo phone valued at N15,000.
The convict was arraigned before Magistrate Adijat Oloyade, on a count charge of stealing, which according to the charge sheet was contrary to and punishable under Section 390 of the criminal code Cap 34 volume 11, Laws of Osun state, 2003.
The prosecutor, Mr.
Fagboyinbo Abiodun, told the court that the convict, an indigene of Ede in the state, committed the offence on March 10 about 11pm at Tinumola Estate, Osogbo.
He said the convict entered into the shop of one Rofi at Bolaji and stole one Techno handset worth N15,000.
The convict admitted guilty to the offence and prayed the court to be merciful to her, blaming the devil for her action.
The prosecution also informed the court that the convict had once been charged to court on the same offence.
Magistrate Oloyade therefore sentenced the convict to 12 months imprisonment with an option of fi ne.
