Mpape earth tremor

A tremor, according to the experts, is like a tiger’s gamboling that grows stealthily over the course of time to become man’s eaters.
Taming the gamboling at this embryonic stage is an urgent call for the Federal Government.
We appreciate the fact that what we have witnessed in certain parts of Abuja recently was a minor tremor.
Some responses from Abuja have likened the tremor to the Ikeja bomb blast that happened on Sunday, January 27, 2002 where the ground shook as if the earth was splitting apart beneath them.
We should all learn to be calm and at alert during emergency, listen to news on radio, television and read newspapers for updates.
Yes, the federal government has said that Nigeria is not prone to earthquake.
Yes, they have suspended the blasting activities in Abuja and its environs.
But we cannot afford to leave the gamboling to become a monster like what we have witnessed in different parts of the world – the roar rupture of the floor, the high scrappers tore open and buried, the trees flying in the air like aero plane, trucks lifted as if they are no heavier than toys, cries of surveyors searching for loved ones and the moans of people in pain, pile of rubble floating like Nile River, among others.
It is a gruesome picture and no nation would want such an occurrence.
The meteorological department and other regulatory agencies must roll out safety mechanisms and update the masses.
The earth has forewarned, as an old maxim says, “to be warned is to be fore armed.’’ Olusanya Anjorin, Lagos
