Mr President, are we really fighting insecurity?

Nigeria is bedevilled by many annoying obstacles but insecurity is one of the most awful of her recent havocs, as a result of which the citizens of the country are now being obstructed from undertaking their daily activities.

However, these series of sad incidents are being induced by jobless youths as a result of unemployment. Many of those who were caught and investigated for causing chaos and mayhem are claiming that the root cause of their unlawful acts is joblessness.
Given the above sad stories, there is need for the government to become proactive in providing job opportunities for our teeming youths and reintroduce various skills acquisition training schemes in all regions of the country. This can be actualised by collaborating with governors, senators, Reps and members of the state houses of assembly.
Though, there are ongoing government programs which are basically meant for curbing suffering of Nigerians especially those who are not in government payroll through ministries of youths and sports and Humanitarians Affairs and Disaster Management but these would not pave ways and solve our current predicament, rather it would be merely ameliorated to a moderate level.

Furthermore, what Nigeria is in dire need of in eliminating the escalating insecurity is to employ unemployed youths not necessarily with white-collar jobs but even black-collar ones.
Nevertheless, giving fully power and support to traditional rulers would also help in combating the disgusting insecurity. This is because these traditional rulers are the ones who are closer to commoners than the government officials. As such, whoever is being observed in every community exploiting illegitimate acts worthy of investigating must be caught and brought to book.

More so, as you had publicly advised our security personnel to change tactics in the fight against insurgency, you have to furnish them with substantial advance weapons materials as well as motivational dues so as to enable them in confronting the enemies of our country. But each and every year’s budget, humongous amount of funds are being approved and released for arms purchase to combat security challenges. Alas! Nothing positive is being observed in eradicating the menace of insecurity.

Nonetheless, our security agencies should be trained and retrained by developed countries expert strategic tactics in the war against terrorism. Even though this is ongoing but there is need for efforts redoubling.
In a nutshell, I would therefore, like to urge you to adopt the aforementioned remedies if we honestly want to impede this challenge of security that is crippling our social and economic standards as well as citizens’ bizarre destruction in all of their daily tasks.
