MSazaam, Customs win Beach Volleyball President Cup as El-Rufai hails Nimrod

 


MSazaam Team of Kaduna defeated Gallant of Abuja to emerge champions of the Beach Volleyball President Cup Senior Male category, Nigeria Custom Service won the female golden trophy. 
Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) defeated Sword of Benue, who went home with the silver trophy at the newly refurbished Beach Volleyball Court at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna. Hard fighting Team Rivers placed third to win the male bronze trophy, as Kogi Spikers also won the female bronze trophy. 


In the U-19 male category, Team Benue won the coveted gold medal, after beating Team Anistea, who put up a good fight to claim the Silver. Home boys, Team Kada went home with the bronze trophy.
Again, Sword of Benue claimed the U-19 female gold trophy after beating Team Kogi in the final. Team Gombe claimed the bronze medal. Twenty two teams from across Nigeria partook in the competition. 
Meanwhile, Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna state has rated President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Engr. Musa Nimrod, as the top administrator in terms of supporting sporting activities in Nigeria.


El-Rufai expressed this Saturday night in Kaduna while declaring closed the President Beach Volleyball Competition at the Beach Volleyball Court of the Ahmadu Bello Stadium. He was represented by the Director of Sports Kaduna state, Alhaji Yakubu Ibrahim.


“One good thing with my NVBF President is that he is second to none in support of sporting activities in Nigeria. He has been supporting all sports, not just volleyball. He uses his resources to sponsor various sporting events across the country,” he said.


The Governor commended Nimrod for giving Kaduna the hosting right of the competition, noting that the state has been yearning for such competitions, while assuring that the state government will keep giving him all necessary support to host more of such competitions in Kaduna.
