Mu’azu promises to position PDP to compete with ANC

The National Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Adamu Mu’azu, yesterday disclosed that his administration is poised to position the ruling party to compete favourably with the Africa National Congress (ANC) of South Africa, particularly in the area of funding.
He said this when the Kogi state PDP delegation, led by Governor Capt. Idris Wada, paid him and members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) a courtesy visit in Abuja.
He pleaded with the party members to collaborate with the party to retain the presidency, increase representations in the National Assembly and other positions.
Mu’azu, reflecting on the challenges before the party, said: “I cannot succeed without your prayers, sacrifice and commitment to various things we need to do in the party.
“Some of the things might not necessarily be the things you want but it is certainly what the party needs as we prepare ourselves for the forthcoming election.
“We know our party has lost some grounds, we must assess ourselves, we must mark ourselves, we must be true to ourselves, we must be sincere to ourselves nationwide and find out what is wrong.”
Speaking on behalf of Kogi delegation, Governor Wada pledged the loyalty of the state party to the national chairman of the party.
Governor Abiola Ajimobi yesterday urged of the Nigeria police to fish out the killers of the Deputy Editor of Saturday Newswatch, Mr. Toyin Obadina.
The governor in a statement in Ibadan by his Special Adviser on Media, Dr. Festus Adedayo, declared that the killing of the journalist should not be allowed to be swept under the carpet like similar previous cases.
He stressed that for the police to regain the public trust, it has to do everything within their powers to fish out the killers on time.
“The only way the police can convince Nigerians that they are truly on top of the situation is to deplore all the resources at their disposal, both human and material, to ensure that the killers of Obadina are tracked down and made to face the full wrath of the law,” he said.
