Music industry mourns Zara Gretti

Anyone who has met Zara will know that she was such a beautiful soul. Her real name is Margaret Mary Oluwatoyin Ejiro Joseph.
She was once signed to Toni Payne Records label alongside rapper Olamide and Adol. Zara, who had a stint as a presenter on Silverbird’s Rhythm FM Lagos, is popular for her songs “Abokoku” and “Teno.”

But it’s rather unfortunate that while the music industry is still struggling to put behind the death of producer/rapper Hcode who died from asthma attack about a month ago, Zara, another highly promising talent, also passed away on Friday, March 28, in Nigeria after a battle with sultiple Sclerosis, a very dangerous autoimmune disease that affects the brain and spinal cord.
We reported her ill health sometime last year. Zara who was only 28 years old recently came back to Nigeria after many months of being hospitalized in the U.S. She also had cried out for help over the months.

The night before her death, she tweeted, “I love and hate my life,” which happened to be her final tweet. She had emaciated before she died and you might not recognise her if you’ve known her before.
