Musing on Atiku’s defection

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has defected from the All Progressives Congress, apparently in readiness for the 2019 presidential election. He has moved back and forth, like the pendulum, in the (mis)fortune of seeking political office in different parties.
Atiku makes an encyclopaedia on the mode of party defection in Nigeria. He aims for the presidential ticket on each defection and has failed serially. Even now, failure stares him, as the Peoples Democratic Party, where he is reportedly headed, has warned him of no free ride. Now, what stimulates this mobility that sets him on the move? Why does he not stay to fight? Isn’t it cowardice?
This latest ride for Atiku will be bumpy. A miscarriage or mishap? Only time will tell! But, Atiku himself carries excess political luggage. Though not convicted of any misdemeanour by any law courts, yet, many are of the belief that his credit integrity worth appears to be in deficit, in the court of public opinion! I ponder.
