Muslim-Muslim ticket: Adamawa APC stakeholder wants Sen. Abbo sanctioned

The condemnation of the Muslim-Muslim ticket by Senator Ishaku Abbo (Cliff), representing Adamawa North, Adamawa state, has drawn the ire of an All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholder in the state, Rilwan Haruna Lawal.

In a statement in Yola, the Adamawa state capital, Lawal described Abbo’s views as a declaration of war on the party and should, consequently, be sanctioned.

He said the senator has disrespected the party leaders who supported the Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kashim Shetima as APC presidential candidate and running mate, respectively, for the 2023 general elections.

He said Abbo’s views that, any “APC member who does not rise up against the Muslim-Muslim ticket is a potential Boko Haram member”, is derogatory and should not be taken lightly.

“The implication of Abbo’s statement is that President Muhammadu Buhari, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the party’s national chairman, presidential candidate, Senator Bola Tinubu, and 15 governors of the party are all potential Boko Haram members because they have endorsed the ticket and seen its potency to win the election come 2023.

“This is where he is having an issue. This man is busy de-marketing the party in our area, giving the New Nigerian People’s Party undue popularity, and a free campaign for Dr Abdullahi Dauda Belel at the expense of our party. This could cost our party the 2023 senatorial seat.

“The question is who is Senator Abbo in APC to disrespectfully call these party men Boko Haram members? This is the same person holding the party’s ticket busy attacking all prominent party men in the name of fighting for Christianity.

“I call for a rescue mission to our party and the only way is to sanction Abbo by expelling him from the party, so that the party will have peace and be focused in winning the elections, else we are in for a big loss,” Lawal said

He revealed that the electorate in the area already feel they do not have a candidate in APC and may go for NNPP to make their voice count by stopping Abbo from winning the election.

“I want to authoritatively tell you that Mubi is the stronghold of APC but with what Abbo is doing, a chunk of the votes will be deflected in favour of parties which logos are hardly known in the state.

“APC will be virtually left with nothing because Cliff has discredited himself and is on the verge of killing the party, if something is not done urgently”, he lamented.
