Muslim women feed, enroll Almajiri into schools in Plateau

Judiciary Muslim Women Association (JUMWAP) in Plateau state has promised to enroll and sponsor the education of almajiri children in the state.

The chairperson of the Association, Hajiya Ramatu Suleiman Magaji, stated this at the maiden Ramadan feedings of Almajiri and less privileged girl child and Women held at the premises of Kasuwan Nama magistrate court in Jos.

She said: “From the little savings out of our salaries, we will ensure that we sponsor the education as well as feedings of the Almajiri’s rouming the streets.”

Mrs. Magaji, said beyond the Ramadan feeding of the Almajiri child the association will; “take their lives into formal education.”

The state’s Grand Khadi, Umar Ibrahim Abdullahi, while commending members of JUMWAP, said what they did was a fulfillment of the expectation of every Muslim.

“What the Muslim Women in the judiciary has done was a challenge, to us that are at the top of the judiciary to assist them in their programme, so that they can do it in bigger ways than this,” he said.

In a goodwill message, a High Court judge, Justice Nafisa Lawal, said JUMWAP, initiative will greatly help in streamlining the lives of the Almajiri child into the core values of the society.

She added that to curb the Almajiri situation, every Muslim and Government must have a good functional system that will ease the education of pupils.
