My daughter is not dead – Leah’s father


Nathaniel Sharibu, father to the only Dapchi school girl withheld by Boko Haram insurgents has disassociated himself with the rumours being perpetrated in the social media that his daughter Leah was dead.

Sharibu told Blueprint: “I have been receiving calls from people condoling me that my daughter is dead, but I want to tell the world that I am not aware of this and non of my
family is associated to this rumour.” he said.

Mr. Sharibu further used the medium to call on the federal governmentnot to forget his daughter but work towards her release from the hands of the abductors.

It was on February 19, 2018 that the students of Government Girls Science Technical College Dapchi were abducted at their hostels in
Yobe state.

Later on, five died as a result of trauma, others were returned by the insurgents after one month while Leah was withheld for not denouncing her Christian faith.
