My fans play important role in my music, says O2udor

Bilingual US-based Nigerian-Cameroonian music artist, Edet Otudor Otudor Ene known musically as O2udor has declared that his fans play an important role in his music as he does music for their pleasure.

“Yes, my fans play an important role in the music I make, my fans have definitely shaped my approach to the creative process, their comments, direct messages and feedback on my previous projects guide me on what to do more of and what not to do, after all, the music I make is for their consumption so it is only right,” he stated.

O2udor also noted that his Cameroonian roots have a great influence on the kind of musiuc he makes, adding that he has an edge over most other artists because he could speak both French and English fluently

“ I use French in some of my lyrics to target a wider audience. There are traces of Makossa in my songs, and I make sure to incorporate the sound during the beat creation process of certain songs,” he said.

Speaking about the effect of social media on his career, 02udor avers, “Social media has been an integral part of my growth, using the different social media platforms is how I’ve been able to grow my audience from the few friends and family I had listening to my music in the beginning to thousands of listeners in many different countries across the world. Social media has provided me a platform to express my views and help inspire, motivate thousands of my followers. 

O2udor said his music journey started in church, as a young Sunday school kid, adding that he was always involved in the music scene, practicing how to play different instruments, and singing with his peers.

He did his Junior Secondary School 1 and 2 in Calabar, Cross River State. There in Nigeria he was opportuned to be in the choir where he found his voice. When he returned to Cameroon to continue his secondary education he got the opportunity to be part of the cultural club & choir of Presbyterian Secondary School, Mankon and represented his school at many national competitions.

When he got admission into University of Buea, South West Region of Cameroon he several young and aspiring musicians, producers, dancers etc who influenced his growth into music.

In 2014 he recorded his first official song titled “Okada” , a song jhe dedicated to commercial motorcyclists and their contribution to the community in terms of transportation.

He cemented his presence on the music scene with another single in 2015 titled ‘Fo Ma Katier”.

In 2016 and 2017, he had a number of features in some of the song titles which include; Gimme Ya Luv, I know, U bad.

2018 appeared to be his best year as he released his first Extension Play titled “Incarnation of Love EP having released three singles, namely; Best Friend, My Girl and Run Dat .

In 2019 he released another single titled “Black Queen”. His first studio album titled CMDGF (Closed Mouths Don’t Get Fed) was released in November of the year 2021 comprising of 16 original tracks.
