My husband not responsible at home, divorce- seeking wife tells court

A housewife, Oluwakemi Fatunmise, has urged the Osun state High Court sitting in Osogbo to dissolve her 11-year-old marriage, alleging that her husband had not been responsible at home.

She alleged that the respondent, Ademola Fatunmise, had abandoned his responsibility, leaving her to be catering for the feeding and payment of their children’s school fees.

“The respondent has been irresponsible. I’ve been paying the school fees of the children and taking care of them. He quits home at will and returns at will. If I ask, he resorts to beating me up. I’ve taken the case to the civil defence, the police station, and the Ministry of Justice. He is into fraudulent acts.

“I want the court to dissolve the marriage. I want custody of my children. They are young. I’ve been taking care of them,” she pleaded.

The applicant tendered photographs of the respondent’s assaults against her as well as the receipts of all the 25 school fees she had paid for the children.

According to her, she has been with the respondent since March 2012 and she has been responsible for the feeding and payment of the children’s school fees.

In her response, Justice Adedotun Onibokun questioned why the respondent was not served notice of hearing personally and adjourned the matter until June 19 for ruling.
