My ordeal during NASS siege, narrates Blueprint reporter

Our correspondent, who arrived premises of the National Assembly complex, was attacked by three vicious looking officers of the Department of State Services (DSS).
During the course of attack, our reporter struggled with the officers who were bent on collecting his mobile device used in covering the invasion of the national Assembly by the DSS.
Overpowered by the armed men, our reporter let go the mobile device which was seized and partially destroyed due to the force exerted on the screen by the officers.
The attention of the vice chairman, Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Senator Ben Murray Bruce was drawn to the development which necessitated the intervention of two senior officers who came to the scene to calm frayed nerves.
The mobile device was later returned to our reporter, but in very bad shape.
Narrating his ordeal, our correspondent said: “When the protest became intense, lawmakers resisted the officers at the National Assembly’s main gate.
Immediately they were able to get in, I accompanied them in the procession to the entrance of the white house building.
“When we arrived the entrance, as the lawmakers from the senate and House of Representatives made their way in through the heavily guarded doors, I was attacked by three officers of the DSS who insisted I stop doing a video with my mobile device.
They demanded it be handed over to them, but I refused.
This led to further attacks even after I introduced myself to them.
“Seeing that I was outnumbered, I let go the phone which was seized.
It was badly damaged due to the struggle.
The screen was broken in the process.
It took the intervention of Senator Ben Bruce to have it back after over 30 minutes wait.”
