Bauchi state governor Bala Mohammed has reacted to the insinuation that he blasphemed God while praising former president Goodluck Jonathan.

The governor was reported to have said during his inauguration recently as chairman PDP campaign council for Bayelsa state governorship election that after God, the former president was instrumental to his success in life.

Our correspondent reports that the statement triggered uproar especially in the media as critics described it as blasphemous.

However the governor in a reaction through his commissioner of information Ladan Salihu who addressed journalists on Tuesday at Bauchi government house said people have misunderstood his principal’s remarks.

According to him, Bala is a ‘very religious person and devoted Muslim adding that he gives priority attention to religious matters and always supports religious organizations even before he became a governor.

Salihu said the governor was only hailing the former president as his political mentor and never meant to liken him with God.
