My travels for college devt – Gidan-Waya COE administrator

Administrator, Kaduna State College of Education, GidanWaya, Prof. Emmanuel Joseph Chom, has denied travelling indiscriminately. He said the various journeys he had made were on purpose and had “certainly been adding value to the college.” Chom, who made the denial in his offi ce at Gidan-Waya, while fi elding questions from newsmen yesterday, said the allegations were not only mischievous and unfounded, as well as misleading.

He said he travelled to Dubai for a leadership summit and also to South Africa to present a paper, stressing that those journeys were with the knowledge and approval of the Commissioner for Education and Governor Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai. Chom also said he also “frequents the Ministry of Education and other related organisations to re-establish relationships and seek ways of moving the college forward and the eff orts are yielding positive results.”

He said between when he assumed offi ce as Administrator of the college “and now, a lot has been achieved amidst lean resources.” On the allegation that he “frequently threatens any principal offi cer that stands on his way,” Chom said it was his responsibility to instill discipline to guarantee the attainment of desired goals and objectives of setting up the college. He had been accused of indiscriminately spending of the college’s funds on trips within and outside the country, even as he “constantly threatens to relieve principal staff of their employment, if they dare stand in his way
