N/Convention: I won’t tolerate godfatherism as APC chair – Moniedafe


Ahead of the national convention of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), one of the chairmanship aspirants and former chairman of the defucnt Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Sunny Sylvester Moniedafe, has promised that his leadership would not tolerate godfatherism in the choice of candidates for elections.

Moniedafe also promised to ensure the provisions of the party’s constitution were strictly adhered to, adding that if given the mandate, he would make a difference in how the party is run.

Speaking with newsmen at Weekend in Abuja after a consultative meeting with APC stakeholders from Taraba state on his ambition, the Adamawa born politician said APC needed an experienced politician to lead it to victory in the 2023 polls.

“Every problem has a solution. I will use dialogue to tackle them. Sometimes it harden our hearts; we don’t want to accept anything. It’s either me or no one else.

“But let them know that if you don’t have this one today, you will get the other one tomorrow. It is easy to do it; conflict resolution we will dialogue with everybody. I want to make a difference.

“I have God and Nigerians behind me so I’m not scared. I rose to become chairman of the ACN, I know what I faced. I lost my second term because I was speaking the truth.

“Nigerians must have the best, the issue of godfather must stop. Nigerians are behind me, God is behind me. I will do the right things.

“I know I have the experience to administer the affairs of the party at the national level that is why I declared my intention to contest. I’m a Nigerian,” he said.

“I was a founding member and one of the leaders of the APC in the FCT. II was a member of the State Executive Committee (SEC) in the FCT from 2014 to 2018.

“I pledge to you all today that things will definitety change for the better in Taraba and the rest of the country with me at the helm of the offairs at the party,” he added.

He said his leadership would demonstrate transparency in the scheme of things and ensure synergy among the three arms of government; legislature, executive and judiciary.
