N15 million fraud’: Nasarawa traders association sack officials


The Nasarawa state traders and marketers association Thursday, sacked its officials led by Mohammed Shammasu over alleged misappropriation of over N15 million.
Spokesman of the association, Mohammed Adamu, disclosed the development at a press conference in Lafia, the state capital.
He further alleged that other offences committed by the Mohammed Shammasu-led exco, include refusal to constitute a committee to provide a constitution to the association, breach of court order, illegal conduct of election and non-accountability for a period of seven years by the former leader of the association.


Adamu said: “This association held an emergency extra-ordinary meeting with members across the state on October 29, 2020 which the state of affairs were delibrated consequent upon which the old exco led by Alhaji Shammasu Dantsoho was disolved.


“Article 17.2 also state clearly that without prejudice to the provision of this constitution, any member of the EXCO shall stand remove if a vote of no confidence is passed by the majority of the congress.
“Also, article 17.6 states clearly that in the event of removal or suspension of the state and local government or unit ,EXCO in acting acting capacity for a period of six months subject to a renewal of other six months, such a vacancy subject to the approval of the congres.


“Therefore, a new caretaker Exco was consequently appointed under the leadership of Alhaji Turaki Gamji.”
