NACOS YSU chapter holds employability summit in Yobe

The Nigerian Association of Computer Students (NACOS) Yobe State University Chapter has Wednesday organised a one day youth employability summit and send forth for outgoing students of computer department of the university.

The summit which has as its theme: “Creating A Fit Future Workforce”, took place at Alhaji Ibrahim Geidam Hall, Yobe State University, Damaturu.

Speaking at the summit, the Vice Chancellor,Prof. Mala Mohammed Daura, said the training programme was timely, most appropriate and a welcome idea that will make the student to remain relevant in the profession they have chosen for themselves.

Represented by the register of the University, Dr Kalli Yusuf Alkali, Daura stated that, the summit is also an opportunity for the students to learn the essentials of computer, work place skills, such as problem solving among others.

“Considering the ever changing nature of technology globally, evolving on daily basis. This training programme is timely, most appropriate and welcome idea, so that our students will be opportune to create fit future work force that will ever keep them to remain relevant in the profession they have chosen for themselves,” he said.

The Vice Chancellor urged all the participants to make best use of this rare opportunity to upgrade their skills.

In his remarks, Yobe State commissioner of wealth Creation, Empowerment and Employment Generation and chairman of the occasion, Alhaji Abdullahi Bego, said apart from the certificates the students will be issued, there is needs for them to have additional skills that would enable them contributes in meaningful ways to the country and the society, saying these are the  skills that are not easily learnt in the university alone.

On his part, the president, Nigerian Association of Computer Students (NACOS) Yobe State University Chapter, Comrade Umar Khalifa, revealed that the maiden summit organised by NACOS YSU chapter was aimed at equipping youths in the field of ICT to become self-reliant.
