NAF ‘ll continue to render humanitarian services to IDPs – CAS

Chief of Air Staff (CAS) Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar has said that beyond military campaign, the Nigerian Air Force will continue to render humanitarian service to victims of terrorism in the North-east.
CAS said this when he received the outgoing United States Defence Attaché (DA) in Nigeria, Col. Patrick Doyle, who paid a farewell visit to the NAF Headquarters in Abuja.
NAF’s spokesperson, Air Commodore Olatokunbo Adesanya, said in a statement that the NAF chief said he had been further encouraged by the case of a 5-year old malnourished child, who had been given up for dead in northeastern Nigeria but was later admitted and nourished at the NAF Reference Hospital Bauchi.
He said:  “With the continuous support of the US Government, the NAF would be better positioned to do much more towards fighting the common enemy of terrorism.
“Air Marshal Abubakar recalled that the USA had been very supportive of the NAF in its fight against terrorism and insurgency in Nigeria.

“The CAS particularly commended the outgoing DA for his dedication to duty and his apparent efforts to boost the NAF and US relationship, urging him to continue in the same vein in his future engagements.”
The NAF spokesperson also said: “the outgoing US DA thanked the CAS for the support he enjoyed from the NAF during his tour of duty.
“He also acknowledged the enormous impact made by the NAF in the fight against insurgency and other forms of criminalities in Nigeria, especially in the past 2 years.

“He equally expressed his amazement at the tremendous passion the CAS had demonstrated for the welfare of his personnel, noting that he was always in awe whenever he visited NAF Bases across the country and saw the ever-increasing level of infrastructural development.
“Col. Doyle commended the efforts of the CAS in substantially increasing the number of serviceable NAF platforms, with particular reference to the Alpha Jet aircraft, remarking that there was a great improvement from what he met when he resumed duties in Nigeria over 2 years ago.
“He said he was leaving Nigeria with the impression that he had met a great leader in Air Marshal Abubakar.”
