The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has confiscated fake drugs worth N2.5 million at Akanu-Ibiam International Airport Enugu.
Its Deputy Director at the Airport, Mr John Okwori, who disclosed this to journalists yesterday, said the goods were imported on January 4, this year, through the Ethiopian Airline.

He said the importer of the goods ran away on sighting NAFDAC men which made his men at airport to seize the goods.
Okwori listed the goods to include 20 packets of Nakhla Tobacco with its pipe, 2,100 Easy White cream, empty containers with crowns and 575 So Mma bright skin formula cream with crowns.

“Also in the sealed container were 24 packets of activated Charcoal, and 2,457 stickers for So Mma bright skin formula cream, all worth about N2.5 million,” he said.
He said the cream container was imported by the suspect with the intension of filling it with fake liquids to sell in place of the original one.
He vowed to hunt down the importer, and warned any citizen who thought that Akanu Ibiam International Airport was an escape route for fake products into the country to desist.

“Those who though they can pass their fake products or import fake goods into the country through Enugu airport are dreaming because there is no escape route for them.”
He warned the citizens to always look out for the NAFDAC logo and numbers on every product to avoid buying fake ones.
