NAFDAC to commence registration of small, medium scale industries in Yobe

As part of efforts to promote local industries and discourage the consumption of sub-standard foods and drugs, the National Agency For Food, Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) in Yobe, has commenced the registration of local suya meats, bakeries, lotions, table water among others.

Coordinator of the agency in the state Lawan Musa disclosed this on Monday while answering questions from Blueprint correspondent.

“The federal government has giving us presidential order to register small and medium industries in order to cope with the economy of the country, once their products have been tested and fit for consumption”.

“We are enlightening the public on the importance of the registration. People now appreciate that once their products are being registered it attracts more customers. These products include local suya meats, lotions, bakeries and table waters.” he said.

Lawan further said his agency had made a good number of seizures in 2018 which were destroyed along side other products seized in the north east.

Blueprint further learnt that the provision of office accommodation and surveillance vehicle to carry out its activities by Yobe state

government has improved the agency’s activities compared to previous years.

“We have touched many vast areas which led to reduction of circulation of sub-standard foods and drugs courtesy of Yobe state government.

That’s was why an award was presented to us at our zonal office for

recognition of hardwork and commitment to duty” he said.

The State Coordinator however sought the cooperation of the public to report any suspected products to the agency for scrutiny.
