NAHCO collaborates with govt agencies to grow aviation

The managing director of the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (nahco aviance), Mr. Idris Yakubu has pledged to work with the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and Servicom for the development of the aviation industry.
Speaking during visits the federal agencies in Lagos recently Yakubu said growing the country’s aviation industry is a collective responsibility of all the stakeholder in the sector.
At the NCAA, Yakubu was received by its director general Capt. Muhtar Usman who expressed satisfaction with the way the company had been conducting business around the airports and hoped other operators would borrow a leaf.
Usman also expressed delight at the visit and urged the ground handling firm to continue to abide by the rules.
On hand to receive the managing director alongside the director general were the director of finance and accounts, Hajia Bilkisu Adamu Sani and the director of operations and training, Capt Abdullahi Maikano Sidi.
At the headquarters of FAAN, Yakubu was welcomed by the agency’s managing director, Mr. Saleh Dunoma who was represented by FAAN’s director of commercial and business development, Mr. Abdukadir Rafindadi.
Also present were the director of finance and accounts, Mrs. Nike Aboderin, general managers, credit control, Mr. Kolawole Simeon; commercial, Mrs. Jane Machunga, and the head of department, commercial, Mr. James Shallangwa.
Addressing the FAAN staff, Yakubu said the visit had afforded him the opportunity to say “thank you to FAAN” which he described as nahco aviance’ “landlord” for its support to the company.
He pledged to sustain and improve on the existing relationship stressing that “nahco aviance is a part of FAAN before its excision and eventual privatisation.”
He further expressed the hope that the tie would be further deepened in a way that value would be added to the two major aviation industry players.
Responding, Rafindadi said nahco aviance had been one of FAAN’s best partners and urged the company to continue to maintain its high level of service delivery.
He described the FAAN—nahco aviance relationship as a “win – win situation” and expressed the hope that the two organisations will continue to work together.
For her part, Aboderin said FAAN had no issues with nahco aviance which she described as “one of the major partners of the Authority in the industry” and commended the company for the way it had been conducting its business at the airports.
During his visit to the NCS command at the international wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, Yakubu told the customs area comptroller, Mr. Emmanuel Edede, that the visit was important.
“Customs is an important stakeholder at the airport. Nahco aviance will continue to follow laid down rules and regulations in the conduct of its business and will assist the service in its efforts to help grow revenue for the federal government,” he said.
In his response, Edede said NCS had always had a good working relationship with nahco stressing “nahco has been very compliant.”
He said the NCS does not encourage indiscipline and that the service would expose the bad eggs while ensuring a level playing field for all operators in the sector.
