NAHCON airlifts 16,605 pilgrims to Saudi Arabia

The Command Control Centre of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has said 16,605 pilgrims have successfully arrived Saudi Arabia for the 2019 hajj exercise.

A statistics released Monday by NAHCON; it said the pilgrims were from the FCT, Oyo, Osun, Ogun, Gombe, Katsina, Kano, Kaduna, Nasarawa, Kebbi, Kwara, Kogi, Sokoto, Zamfara, and Lagos states.

The commission stated that a total of 34 flights transported the pilgrims to The Holy Land.

Some of the pilgrims in the Holy Land since last Thursday have started leaving Madinah for Mekkah to observe Umrah as part Hajji rites.

 Meanwhile, the commission had said that the airlift of Nigerian intending Pilgrims to Saudi Arabia is expected to be completed on or before the second of next month.

Disclosing this in a Freedom Radio Kaduna program, Barka da Warhaka, this morning, the Commissioner Operations of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON, Alhaji Abdullahi Modibbo Saleh, said the King Abdulaziz International Airport, Jeddah, is expected to be closed to Hajj traffic on the fourth of August.

He stated that over sixteen thousand pilgrims have so far been airlifted to the Kingdom from Nigeria in about thirty four flights, saying the airlift exercise is going on smoothly, hitch free and he is optimistic that barring all eventualities and unforeseen circumstances, the exercise will be completed on schedule and without any hiccups.
