NAHCON clears 893 Jigawa pilgrims for 2019 Hajj

Executive Secretary, Jigawa state Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Muhammad Sani Alhassan has said, 893 intending pilgrims have been cleared by the National Hajj Commission (NAHCON) out of the 1,472 seats allocated to the state for this year’s pilgrimage.

Addressing reporters Wednesday in his office on the level of preparation of the board, he stressed that, out of the total 893 intending pilgrims, about 700 had gotten their travelling documents, including visas, while the remaining were being processed.

However, it is for the first time the pilgrims from the state will perform the Hajj without an Almirul Hajj, which the executive secretary attributed to the federal government directive that only Islamic organisations could sponsor Amirul Hajj.

Responding to the reduction of the 2019 hajj fare, he said Jigawa state pilgrims got the highest reduction in the country as the state pilgrims board refunded over N100, 000 to each intending pilgrims.

While in the two holy cities of Makkah and Madina, he appealed to intending pilgrims to remain good ambassadors of the state and the country at large.

He further enjoined the pilgrims to desist from carrying along with them any of the prohibited items by Saudi Arabian authority
