NAHCON, HIN’ll transform hajj exercise beyond imagination – SGF, minister 

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Gida Mustapha and Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mohammed Musa Bello, Tuesday, said the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) and Hajj Institute of Nigeria (HIN) will transform hajj exercise beyond the imagination of many Nigerians.

They stated that HIN is relevant to President Muhammadu Buhari’s Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP).

The duo spoke during the commissioning of HIN at the Hajj House, Abuja.

The SGF, who was represented by permanent secretary, Special services, Aliyu G. Mohammed, said HIN is relevant to President Muhammadu Buhari administration’s focus under the ERGP, which has a vision of sustained inclusive growth and structural economic transformation. 

In his remarks, FCT minister noted that hajj operation and services has developed.

The pioneer chairman of NAHCON commended NAHCON for the successes recorded and charged the commission and HIN to invest more in the area of technology. 

He said, “But now of course, it’s a totally different ballgame. Hajj is business. Hajj is a very important economy and social activity. Of course, it will continue to be a very fundamental religious activity for Muslims.” 

Bello urged HIN curriculum to incorporate accounting, logistics, crowd control, communication, technology and other areas.

Earlier in his remarks, chairman NAHCON and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Zikrullah Kunle Hassan, stated that the institute was established to improve the quality of manpower in the Hajj and Umrah Sector in Nigeria and  be at par with global industry standards.
