NAHCON to set up umrah dept, AHUON brings in new executives

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has assured that it will create Umrah department to oversee umrah activities in the country as part of NAHCON efforts to eradicate human trafficking and raise the bar of operations.
Speaking at the annual general meeting of the Association of Hajj and Umrah Operators of Nigeria (AHUON) held at the National Mosque Abuja, as guest of honour, NAHCON Chairman, Barr. Abdullahi Mukhtar Muhammad, stressed that the association has added value to the operations of umrah and hajj in Nigeria.
According to him, the commission would introduce account officers to deal with individual private tour operators on matters relating to the exercise and their companies; and also ensure that operator register intending pilgrims on NAHCON’s portal.
He implored tour operators to abide by all rules set by Saudi and Nigeria authorities as as erring operators would be out of business overtime.
While applauding the characteristics of the outgoing president of AHUON, Alhaji Abdulfattah Abdulmajeed, he enjoined the incoming executives to use the association for the good of pilgrims and tour operators but not for unionism.
The outgoing national president of AHUON, Alhaji Abdulfattah Abdulmajeed, expressed appreciation to NAHCON for its support over the years and urged members to give utmost support to the incoming executives of the association.
The FCT Minister, Muhammad Musa Bello, who was represented by the Secretary, Social Development Secretariat, Alhaji Oladimeji Ali Hassan, said government would sustain the provision of enabling environment for the business to thrive as well as other issues that affect hajj and umrah operations in Nigeria.
