NAHCO’s subsidiary gets Free Trade Zone license

A subsidiary of the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc (NAHCO Aviance) – NAHCO FTZ Limited – has been granted a free trade zone license by the federal government thereby boosting the diversification efforts of the group.

The FTZ presidential approval was granted on the recommendation of the Minister of Trade and Investment, Olusegun Aganga, and NEPZA to support trans-shipment and light industrial and logistics, and agrizone activities at Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos.

According to the group chairman of NAHCO, Mallam Suleiman Yahyah, the details on the licence would be communicated to stakeholders in due course.
He had told shareholders during last year’s annual general meeting (AGM) that its investment in the ultra-modern warehouse in Lagos was beginning to yield desired results.

To complement the Lagos investment, the company also embarked on renovation of its Kano warehouse in view of the federal government airport modernisation programme and in anticipation of increase in Cargo and passenger movements at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport.

Last year, the company commissioned the first IATA-approved learning and development centre (LDC) to enhance international training for aviation staff in the ECOWAS sub-region and ensure better and efficient collaboration with international training bodies.
