NAOWA pays humanitarian visit to Asokoro hospital, school

Following excruciating pains, the Nigerian Army Officer Wives Association (NAOWA), Army Headquarters (AHQ) Garrison Chapter, Thursday, paid a humanitarian visit to patients in different wards at the Asokoro District Hospital in Abuja.

The association also visited the NAOWA Model Nursery and Primary School in Asokoro.

Speaking during the hospital visit, where the association distributed relief items to over 50 patients, the NAOWA AHQ Garrison Coordinator, Mrs Asma’u Garba, said that many of the patients require the prayers of well-meaning Nigerians as their conditions are critical.

She said: “You may not know how lucky you are to be healthy until you visit a hospital. We just went round different wards and I am in tears. My heart is broken. Many of the patients require urgent prayers to survive. However, we have to identify with them by showing them that we understand.

“That’s why we shared different items to the patients in different wards. My advice is for them to have hope. They should not despair. God is with them and will surely intervene in their plights. All hope for recovery is not lost, so let’s remember them in our prayers.”

While responding to the visit, the Environmental Officer, Nurse Aisha Gadu, who represented the hospital management, said that the visit will lift the mood of the patients as their different ailments have often been discouraging.

Also speaking during the visit to the NAOWA Model Nursery and Primary School in Asokoro, Mrs Asma’u Garba said the distribution of food items to the teaching, non teaching and administration staff is to encourage them to be dedicated in their duties.
