NAOWA president urges barrack women on gainful ventures

The President of Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association (NAOWA), Hajiya Umma Kalsum Tukur Buratai has urged wives of army personnel to engage in gainful ventures in order to make a good living.
She made the call while inaugurating of the 7 Division Wolf Cooperative Society office and blocks of classrooms at the NAOWA Nursery and Primary school in Maimalari Barracks, Maiduguri, Borno state.

Buratai urged the women tom take advantage of the cooperative society to expand their businesses.
“This is a laudable initiative as it will afford the wives, children and wards of serving and deceased personnel the opportunity to access micro finance loans to support their small scale enterprises in line with the Barack Investment and Initiatives Programme of the Chief of Army Staff,” she said.

Buratai the newly inaugurated classrooms at the NAOWA school would boost the “ main thrust of NAOWA’s vision, mission and aspiration”, which she said would also complement the Nigerian Army and the Federal Government efforts in the promision of quality and affordable education in the barracks across the country.
She described the project as a “welcome development and commendable initiative” of expanding the facilities in the school.
In her welcome address, NAOWAS President, 7 Division, Mrs.
Aisha Bulama Biu assured that the 7 Division NAOWA would continue to strive “doggedly to keep the flag flying.” “ To this end, permit me to state here that I have set out to bringing on board all NAOWA members in the Division and the just established Nigerian Army Soldiers’ Wives Association (NASWA) 7 Division Chapter to take its rightful place and do more for the wellbeing of the barracks community,” she said
