NAQS sensitises staff on operations, procedure

With it approval as a substantial parastatal, the Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service (NAQS) has sensitised it’s staff on it operation and procedures to position the Service to meet standard despite several restructuring.
Addressing the staff during the sensitization workshop on quarantine that held at the Golden Tulip Hotel, Lagos, the Coordinating Director, Dr.
Vincent Isegbe, said with the NAQS becoming a full flesh agency now, there are several restructuring needed to meet the expected standard.
He said the staff will be consistently continue capacity building of the staff on ethics of the para-military training to enable them perform better.
He however urged that Quarantine be allowed to operate at the airport to carry out their mandate effectively, as the current arrangement is limiting their ability to carry out their mandate.
It would be recalled that the federal government last year’s ordered several agencies to leave the airport as part of efforts to disconjest the airport and ensure ease of doing business.
Also he said the Service will increase collaboration with sister agencies to enable it sanitise the country of fake agricultural produces, because NAQS has the mandate of protecting Nigeria’s agricultural economy from incursion by dangerous pests and diseases, whilst ensuring the promotion of international trade of agricultural commodities.
