Nasarawa 2023: Tribunal adjourns pre-hearing suit  against speaker

The Nasarawa state Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Lafia, has adjourned the petition of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) state house of Assembly candidate, Ibrahim Abdullahi Sa’ad from Umuaisha/Ugya constituency against the speaker, Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, until Friday, 2nd June 2023.

The adjournment followed the decision of all the lawyers who agreed on the date that all applications would be taken on the adjourned date.

Chairman of the tribunal, Francesca Nnang Isoni, Wednesday, said the pre-hearing has commenced and would continue by next week Friday, 2nd June 2023.

Addressing newsmen after the sitting, lead counsel to PDP candidate, Yakubu A.H Ruba, SAN, said the adjournment was not out of place, but it would continue after taking all the applications.

The petitioner challenged the result of the election in Umuaisha/Ugya state Assembly constituency.

 INEC had declared the speaker Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi winner of the state house of Assembly election Umuaisha/ Ugya constituency having polled a total number of 3,706 against PDP candidate who polled 2,850.
