Senator representing Nasarawa South Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, Tuesday, stressed the need for unity and cooperation to move the state forward.
Senator Al-Makura made the call while playing host to former members of the Nasarawa state House of Assembly (NSHA) in his Jabi Office, Abuja.
Al-Makura, who was overwhelmed, thanked the former members for the visit, saying it would strengthen the existing relationship between them.
Almakura who is also the former governor of Nasarawa state said he has learnt a lot from the former members while serving as governor, some of which are helping him in some of his activities today in the Senate.
“In spite of what has happened that anybody would look at as something negative, believe me, I remain indebted to each and everyone of you for the cooperation and collaboration we had together.
“You have never rejected my budget, you have never rejected any of my initiatives that were supposed to add value to the state. I have never had any situation where I regretted any minute of our relationship.”
“I’m giving you my total and irrevocable commitment and words that I’m saying before you and almighty God that me and you are one united family,” Al-Makura said.
Earlier, the former Speaker, Ahmed Mohammed, who led the delegation gave three reasons that informed their decision for the visit.
According to him, they went to congratulate him on his election victory to the senate, appreciate his role as a Senator, and the need to forgive and forget what happened in the past and forge ahead.
