A member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Nasarawa state House of Assembly, Nathaniel Agyo Mesa, representing Lafia North, has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Announcing his defection at the floor of the assembly, Mesa said his defection was informed by the decision of his constituency who said the APC lacked democratic norms.

Mesa, who was elected to the House on the platform of the defunct Congress for Political Change (CPC), said his defection to the PDP was because he was not satisfied with the merger of the CPC with other opposition parties to form the APC that gave a different political ideology.

The defection notice which was brought under matters of public interest generated wide range of accolades from the PDP members in the days sitting who lead the member to the Speaker.
He said: “Today I want to tell the world that I have formally dumped the APC due to lack of internal democracy in   the party. Look at the just concluded ward Congress in the state which was marred by imposition and lack of rule of law.”
The Speaker, Hon.  Musa Ahmed Mohammed, who received the member on behalf of the party, assured him of a level-playing ground and support at all times.
