Nasarawa assembly condemns attack on deputy gov’s convoy

The Nasarawa state House of Assembly has condemned attack on the convoy of State Deputy Governor, Emmanuel Akabe, which led to the death of police officers, two civilians along Akwanga/Lafia road on Tuesday.

The speaker, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi, condemned the attack Thursday in a statement issued by his Press Secretary, Jibrin Gwamna, in Lafia.

Abdullahi, who expressed regret over the unfortunate and barbaric act, prayed God to expose the masterminds and the evil doers.

The speaker condoled with the families, relatives and friends of those who lost their lives in the incident and prayed God to repose their souls.

He disclosed that the three policemen and the pilot driver who were on rescue mission to clear the road for the deputy governor and other road users passing during the robbery scene died gallantly.

Abdullahi, who thanked God for the life of the deputy governor and others people who were saved, urged the people of the state and Nigerians to pray for peace, unity and development of the country.

“We can only achieve meaningful progress and development where there is peace and unity. So, I urge all of us to pray for peace, live in peace and tolerate one another irrespective of our affiliations,” he said.

Suspected armed robbers had on Tuesday attacked the convoy of Nasarawa state deputy governor, Dr Emmanuel Akabe, killing three policemen and a civilian.

Akabe was on his way to Abuja on an official engagement when the convoy ran into the robbers who were operating few kilometres away from Akwanga at about 6p.m. (NAN)
