Nasarawa state House of Assembly yesterday gave the state governor Umaru Tanko Almakura 24 hours to sack the  Chairman of the State Independent Electoral Commission (NASIEC), Dr.Abdullahi Moddibo and all Commissioners of the Commission.
The assembly took the decision after deliberating on a motion moved by Majority Leader of the House, Godiya Akwashiki (PDP), representing Nasarawa Eggon West Constituency.
The motion was brought under the matter of public interest on the need to sack the chairman and the commissioners for their refusal to  correct their mistake which they owned up to the house when they appeared.

Akwashiki drew the attention of the house that the commission chairman has refused to announce the results of Akwanga and Obi local governments which he earlier said he erred for dabbling into results after it has  been announced by the respective returning officers as  being won by PDP candidates.
The motion which was supported by Mohammed Okpede (PDP ), representing Doma north was unanimously carried by majority of the lawmakers in the house with 17    lawmakers out of the 19 members  present at the days sitting voting in favour.

Hon Agyo Mesa of APC had during deliberations in support of the motion urged the house to support the scrapping of State Independent Electoral Commissions (SIEC) across the country.
Mesa said the conduct of the NASIEC officers has further sent fears to the public on how electorates are been denied their rights.
The Speaker of the Assembly, Hon. Musa Ahmed Mohammed then    directed the Clerk of the State Assembly to communicate the state governor on the resolution of the house to sack the NASIEC chairman, Dr Abdullahi Modibbo within 24 hours.
