Nasarawa Assembly urges Nigerians to resist military coup

The Nasarawa state House of Assembly, on Thursday urged Nigerians to resist any attempt by the military to take over the country because it is not in the interest of peace and national dev elopement.
Speaker of the House, Alhaji Ibrahim Balarabe-Abdullahi, made the call in an interview with newsmen in Lafia.
He described democracy as the best form of government, adding that, the nation had witnessed  tremendous achievements under democratic set up and urged Nigerians to only support democratic government in the country for peace to reign.

Balarabe said that under democracy, there is respect for rule of law, fundamental human rights and not dictatorship has been practiced under military rule.
“The two years in office of President Muhammadu Buhari is fruitful because he was able to achieve his campaign promises especially in the area of tackling insecurity, unemployment and the diversification of the nation’s economy through agriculture.
The Speaker also lauded Governor Umaru Al-Makura for his developmental strides across the state in the last six years, describing the governor achievements which have impacted positively on the lives of the people of the state as wonderful.

Balarabe-Abdullahi assured the people of the state of the cordial relationship between the executive and legislature in order to achieve meaningful development in the state, adding that lack of relationship between the arms of government could only bring underdevelopment to the country.
He reinstated the commitment of the assembly to continue to enact laws and resolutions that have direct impact on the lives of the people of the state and solicited for their support to enable him succeed.
The Speaker also appealed to the people of the state and Nigerians to continue to support and cooperation President Buhari and Gov.Almakura to enable them succeed in the task ahead of them.
