Nasarawa: Civil servants begin training on data processing

The Nasarawa state government, Monday, commenced the training for civil servants on data processing for efficient service delivery.
Director General Bureau for Information and Communication Technology (BICT) Malam  Shehu Ibrahim disclosed this in Lafia.

He said the aim was to equip those in the state ICT sector of needed digital skills to enable them to communicate, share and organise information digitally, in line with modern practices.

The DG said successful participants in the training would be the first to collect the new Nasarawa state ICT proficiency certificate, which hopes to become a prerequisite for future promotions.

He said the Bureau of ICT is aimed at strengthening the operations of the civil service and improving service delivery through identification of huge capacity gaps in critical areas of ICT and government work, strategic thinking and policy analysis in the state.
“With the high level of commitment governor Abdullahi Sule is putting towards ensuring Nasarawa state becoming one of the topmost competitive economies, ICT is to be the backbone of the state through training, retraining and development of programmes, applications and value adding projects,” he said.

He therefore charged the participants to learn new things ranging on use of OCR, spinbots to social media as a tool for development.

Speaking, the state head of service Mr. Nicholas Aboki encouraged the participants to cultivate good relationships with the BICT, in order to access knowledge even after the training.
