Nasarawa emerges best on ICT- Official

The federal Ministry of Communication has conferred an award of excellence on Nasarawa state government as the best on capacity building on Information and communication Technology in the country (ICT).

 Director General of Nasarawa state Bureau for Information Communication Technology ( ICT ) Shehu Ibrahim, Wednesday revealed this in an interview with newsmen in Lafia.

He said the state was recently ranked as the best in capacity building on ICT in the country and second best on infrastructural development on ICT by the Ministry of Communication and Technology.

“After considering the installation and the kind of infrastructure put in place by the Nasarawa state government on ICT, the Federal Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy being the conveners of the 7th National Council meeting for ICT that took placed at Gombe last year, conferred an award on  Nasarawa state as best in capacity building and second best in infrastructural development in the country.”

Shehu restated the state government’s commitment to leave no stone unturned by ensuring that information technology get a wide spread, not within the civil servants alone, but that it becomes a rallying point for entrepreneurial development.

According to him, opportunity now abound for citizens of the state in the area of information technology with the kick off of the program which has also enabled civil servants in the state to be owners of lap tops and giving them the ability to interact on the Internet.

He added  that over 2000 lap tops have so far been distributed to workers in the state with the help of bright land computers ,the consultant handling the training on ICT in the state.

He  called on the civil servants in the state to intensify their learning and update their skills.
