Mosquito and malaria

The Nasarawa state government has flagged off the second round of seasonal malaria chemo- prevention, with a promise to eradicate malaria in the state.

The Commissioner for Health, Pharm. Ahmed Yahaya, stated this Friday at a press briefing to mark the Round Two seasonal malaria chemo-prevention in Lafia.

He said the burden of malaria had drastically reduced from 60 per cent to 30 per cent, adding that it’s currently down to 14.6 per cent.

“This was as a result of the consistent efforts put in place by the leadership of the state, state ministry of health, healthcare workers as well as support from implementing partners,” he said.

He said the intervention had reduced the prevalence of malaria, particularly amongst children of less than five years “who are more vulnerable to malaria.”
