Nasarawa govt charges contractors on project specifications


The Nasarawa state government, Thursday, charged contractors awarded contracts to ensure strict adherence to specifications and timely execution of projects.
Executive chairman Nasarawa state Universal Basic Education Board (NSUBEB) Muhammad Musa Dan’azumi gave the warning at a bid opening ceremony 2019 intervention fund in Lafia.


The chairman who was represented by Permanent member 1 of the board, Mr. Freeman Kasa, warned that every stage of the contract works would be monitored by NSUBEB and other government agencies to ensure strict compliance with the set-standard.
He said government has spent huge sum of money from her meager resources in the provision of infrastructure.


Kasa charged the contractors to reciprocate government’s gesture by using standards building materials in their works.
The executive chairman revealed that the sum of N1.5billion has been released as counter fund to Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) Abuja for the 2019.
He therefore, recognised the efforts of the Universal Basic Education Commissioned Abuja in construction and rehabilitation of decay infrastructures in primary and government junior secondary schools, and assured that every kobo sent to them l be use judiciously.


Executive secretary Universal Basic Education Commission, Dr. Hamid Bobboyi, who was represented by acting director north central zonal office Lafia, Mr. Emmanuel Nev, said their presence at the biding was to ensure due process and transparency in the award of contracts by NSUBEB.


One of the contractors A.U Adogi enterprise Nigeria limited assured the board that if given the opportunity, he would deliver quality and timely jobs in line with specifications.
