Nasarawa launches, sells fertilizer to farmers

 

The Nasarawa state government, Thursday, launched the sales of 30,000 metric tones of fertilizer to dry season farmers in the state.

Governor Abdullahi Sule launched the programme in Lafia the Nasarawa state capital.

Declaring the sales of fertilizer to dry season farmers, Governor Sule said the idea was to boost the agricultural activities and provide adequate foods to people of the state and the country at large.

Sule  was represented by the state deputy governor, Dr Emmanuel Akabe. He  said the present administration is determined and focused to ensure that the dry season farmers get their fertilizer in time as well as the raining season farmers also get their production in order to boost food production across the state.

He maintained that his government would continue to accord more priority to agriculture, adding that government would also partner in the agricultural business- sector.

Sule said the government is targeting over 200 dry season farmers to benefit from the fertilizer for their dry season farming use only. The product was purchased at the cost of N5,500 and subsidised to farmers at the cost of N4,500
