Nasarawa LG chair inaugurates 27- man c’ttee on IGR

Overseer of Akun Development Area of Nasarawa state,Hon. Emma Yaro, has constituted a 27-man revenue generation committee to boost the internally generated revenue (IGR) of the council.
While inaugurating the committee in Akun, Yaro urged the committee members to tackle revenue generation effectively to boost the financial base of the council in order to enable the council provide the much needed dividends of democracy to the electorate.
The council boss charged them to ensure that all revenues accruing to the council are properly remitted and advised the committee against collecting money without issuing receipts.
“Government has directed us to look inwards in order to improve on the IGR of our councils because we cannot continue to depend on federal and state governments’ monthly allocations.
“Generation of more revenue will enable the council initiate more people oriented projects in order to improve on their living condition,” he said.
Yaro charged the committee to be transparent and accountable in the discharge of their duties, to repose the confidence the council has on them and in the interest of development.
He equally promised to block all forms of leakages and restated the council’s commitment to continue to key in to good policies in order to meet up with the yearnings and aspirations of the people of the area.
Responding, chairman of the task force committee, Mr. Alidzi Joseph, expressed gratitude to the overseer for the confidence reposed in them and promised to put in their best to achieve results.
