Nasarawa LG polls: I’m disappointed – Sen. Adokwe

Senator Suleiman Adokwe, representing Nasarawa South Senatorial District, has expressed disappointment with Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura “for using the military at the just concluded local government elections.”
Speaking with newsmen in Lafia, Adokwe said Al-Makura refused to engage the military in ensuring lasting peace in the state, but rather chose to use them in a local government re-run election.

Adokwe, whose local government was announced as having been won by the APC, urged the state government to make the protection of lives and property paramount rather than the use of sentiments in its dealings.
He said: “Henceforth, he should stop blaming the federal government for failure to save lives in the state since he has the capacity to command the presence of the military during the re-run elections should have equally done so to save lives.”

He added it was a shame for the government to claim ignorance of the crisis in the state and turned around to blame the federal government.
According to him, the action of the governor has proven that he has the capacity to contain the crisis, but has refused to do so.
He urged the governor to ensure that, henceforth, no life is lost in the state.
“It is regrettable that our state has turned into a crisis place due to negligence on the side of government.”
